Draft language for pooled sick leave provision

In addition to individual sick leave, CCR will create a joint pool of sick days for employees to draw from in case of catastrophic accident or illness or other event that would cause an employee to use up their available days. Staff members can donate their sick days to the pool at any time.

In addition, sick days will be added to the pool from the following sources:
  • Although individual sick leave will cap at 60 days, employees will continue to accrue above 60 days, and all days accrued as of then will roll into the pool.
  • Any unused comp time at the end of the year (or the following first quarter) will get rolled into the pool.
  • Any unused personal days at the end of the year will get rolled into the pool.
Eligibility for pooled sick days will be determined by the Associate Executive Director. The Associate Executive Director must provide notification to the Union of any delegation of pooled sick days or the denial of any such request. All employees regardless of union status will be eligible to donate and receive pooled sick days.
